Economic Development Strategy
Overview
We have started to work on a new economic development strategy for the borough which will guide and inform a wide range of services and initiatives over the next five years, to support a thriving and fair local economy.
We want to hear from you, as we know the experiences and perspectives of those who live, work, and employ people in the borough are vital to ensuring we are well-placed to deliver a resilient, dynamic and productive local economy.
This engagement will be combined with previous conversations which have already taken place such as the consultation on the first draft of the Local Plan and engagement to create the Vision for Kingston Town Centre.
We have recently been meeting with a variety of business groups, business forums and individual businesses as well as Kingston University and Kingston College, to seek their views.

We want to hear your views and perspectives on the local economy. There is a link below to a short questionnaire. It includes questions abut our town centres and themes and priority areas you think the strategy should focus on.
Join a workshop
A workshop is taking place on Monday 5 February, from 6pm-7.30pm for anyone who would like to be more involved in shaping the new strategy. If you're interested in taking part join our Kingston Residents' Panel and details of the workshop will be sent to you.
All of the feedback will be reviewed and analysed to inform the final strategy.
How we’ll use your data
The responses are being processed by PRD, a consultancy commissioned by the council to help develop the economic strategy.
Your responses will only be used for this commission and only available to members of the PRD project team for the purpose of analysis. When PRD completes the project, they will delete the data from their database and only the council will own and hold the data.
If you have questions about the survey or data processing, please read our privacy policy or contact engagement@kingston.gov.uk.
How to get in touch with us
If you have any questions, or need any of the information in a different format, please get in touch with us via phone: 020 8547 5000, or email business@kingston.gov.uk.
Why your views matter
The most recent Economic Development and Growth Strategy was published in 2018, based on data and evidence collected in 2017. Although it was due to span from 2018 to 2025 the profound changes in the economic and social context since it was created has prompted us to think of new ways to support inclusive economic growth for Kingston’s residents, workers, and businesses.
We want to develop a new economic development strategy for the borough which will guide ambitions and priorities for the economy and will inform a range of services and initiatives over the next five years, to support a thriving and fair local economy.
