Help shape three public parks and greenspaces
Results updated 16 Mar 2026
Thank you to everyone who took the time to give their feedback about the proposed designs for Fishponds Park, the Green Lane Recreation Ground Multi Use Games Area and the Half Mile Tree replacement.
We received 136 responses, reflecting a range of different perspectives which can be found in the engagement summary below.
Engagement summary
Fishponds Playtrail
We have carefully considered the feedback received on the playtrail proposal for Fishponds Park.
While a number of people expressed their support for the playtrail as an additional way for children to play and connect with nature, others did not want to see any changes made to the space.
The proposed design was intentionally low-impact and developed with sensitivity to its surroundings. However, we have taken all feedback into account, we will not be progressing with the current proposal at this time. We will continue to explore ways to balance the need for additional play opportunities in the area with careful consideration of the park’s setting and the views shared through the engagement.
Green Lane Recreation Ground - Multi Use Games Area (MUGA)
We are pleased to announce that we’ll be going ahead with the Multi Use Games Area proposal at Green Lane Recreation Ground.
We received a number of suggestions and will be looking at providing an additional bin and bench for the area, along with netball posts when budget allows.
We are also investigating the viability of a tennis wall as part of the MUGA, as well as a table tennis table.
The Half Mile Tree
Feedback on the Half Mile tree planting proposals was very positive, with most respondents happy with the design.
There were a few questions related to the suitability of the Hornbeam species chosen, but we believe that it is considered to be relatively resilient to periods of very dry or wet weather.
Maintenance and litter concerns have been noted and will be managed through existing monitoring and aftercare processes.
The project will aim to minimise hard surfacing and enhance retained grass areas where possible.
Overview
We are excited to launch the next phase of our Community Parks Programme, which focuses on enhancing green spaces across the borough. So far, through our Community Parks Programme we have delivered a range of improvement works including footpath resurfacing, playground makeovers and the installation of outdoor gyms in eight green spaces across the borough.
We are now seeking input on three new projects, and we need your help to ensure they meet the needs of local people and visitors to the borough.

We are inviting feedback on the initial concepts for:
Fishponds Park
Creating a new, engaging play trail experience inspired by nature.
Green Lane Recreation Ground
A new multi use games area to support year-round sport and recreation.

Half Mile Tree
Planting a replacement tree and creating a new and improved seating area.
Your views are essential in shaping the final designs for these projects and ensuring the improvements best serve our community. We’d love to hear what you think and any other ideas you may have.
