Have your say on the draft Tree and Woodland Strategy
Overview
Our trees and woodlands are vital to the character, biodiversity, and climate resilience of our borough. They enhance our landscapes, improve air quality, reduce urban heat, and provide essential habitats for wildlife. Protecting and expanding our urban forest is therefore a key priority for the years ahead.
We have developed a draft Tree and Woodland Strategy for 2026–2036, setting out how we will protect, manage, and grow our treescape. This includes a detailed evidence base, policy framework, and a proposed action plan focused on long-term sustainability.
The strategy contains actions based on what we are currently doing to manage and protect trees and woodlands within the borough, and a number of new and improved targets to enhance and protect these vital environmental assets well into the future.
We are now seeking your feedback on our draft actions. We recognise there is public interest in how trees are planted and maintained. This engagement is an opportunity to better understand local priorities, address concerns, and ensure our approach reflects the needs and expectations of our communities.
Your feedback will help shape the final strategy and ensure it delivers meaningful, lasting benefits for people, wildlife, and the environment.
