Thank you to everyone for their views.

We asked

The council periodically checks parking permit restrictions to see whether they are meeting the needs of residents, and can carry out a review when requested by the community or where parking demand in an area significantly changes.

We asked residents in the area whether they supported extending the times or days of operation of the Brown’s Road Permit Parking Area.

You said

We received 41 responses to our feedback form. 46% of respondents said they were happy with the current days and times of the restrictions. 54% said they were unhappy. Overall 61% of respondents preferred to leave the restrictions as they currently are. The next most popular option was to increase both days and time, and this was only the most favoured option in one of the eight streets surveyed. Other comments included feedback that the existing scheme worked well, causes of parking congestion, some concerns about the cost and inconvenience of the parking permits, and requests to increase the signage.

We did together

The committee report, item 6 at the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee on 13 March 2024, recommended no change is made at this time. The committee agreed to defer making a decision to a future meeting, to allow more time for officers to gather relevant data.

Overview

Share your thoughts on options to manage parking in your areasignage for Browns Road PPA zone with simplified car illustrations overlaid

We want everyone to feel our streets are spaces where they can breathe clean air, walk safely and feel connected to the local community. Parking management in our neighbourhoods ensures streets are safer for all users, help residents and visitors have fair access to parking and can reduce congestion.

In 2019 a Permit Parking Area (PPA) was first introduced into Alpha Road, Britannia Road, Browns Road, King Charles Crescent, Mayberry Place, Middle Green Close, South Place and Warwick Grove. Parking is restricted in this area to permit holders only, from Monday to Friday, between 11am and 2pm.

A map of the roads covered by the parking permit area is available to view in the Related documents section at the bottom of this page.

The scheme is due for a review in order to make sure that it still meets residents' needs.

We want to hear your views on how you find parking on your road and if you feel there is a need for some changes to days/times of the scheme.
