Surbiton Hill Road Safety Improvements

Overview

We are proposing the following updates to Surbiton Hill Road that will address concerns raised by residents for several years about road safety. 

Working with emergency services and ward members we have developed a plan to install speed cushions and traffic islands at various locations along Surbiton Hill Road, as shown in the plans below.  Click the top-left icon to remove the toolbar and view the full plan.  You can also download these plans, from the "Related Links" section at the bottom of this webpage.

Proposed Measures and Their Benefits:

• Speed Cushions: These raised humps in the road force vehicles to slow down, significantly reducing average speeds.

• Traffic Islands: These islands in the middle of the roads create a narrow carriageway, which naturally slows traffic.

These measures are designed to:

• Reduce speeding and create a safer environment for all road users.

• Encourage more considerate driving behavior.

Why your views matter

We will review all of your feedback to help us to prepare a report with recommendations. This report will go to the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee on the 9 September 2025 for discussion and decision.
