Local Plan - Call for Sites

Overview

Kingston’s new Local Plan will shape a vision for our Royal Borough for years to come. It’s set to reflect the needs and aspirations of local people, providing the homes, spaces and places for future generations to thrive in.

As part of collecting the evidence we need to further develop a robust Local Plan, we have launched a ‘Call for Sites’. This is an opportunity for everyone, particularly landowners, agents and site developers, to suggest sites they believe have the potential to be developed in the future.

Putting forward a site doesn’t mean it will be developed. All sites submitted to the Council will be reviewed and assessed for their sustainability and suitability with only those considered appropriate being taken forward in the Local Plan as a site allocation for future development. Any sites brought forward will need to ensure that they can deliver infrastructure to support future growth.

To be applicable, suggested sites need to:

  • be wholly or partially within the borough of Kingston
  • typically exceed 0.25 hectares of developable land (or can accommodate 500sqm of floorspace)
  • have the full extent of the available land within one submission (rather than multiple submissions with overlapping land)

When submitting larger scale sites, please work collaboratively with nearby landowners or agents, where possible, to ensure a coordinated approach. We encourage the submission of all potential sites. Sites can be either previously developed land or undeveloped land.

Please complete a new submission for each site proposal. This is a final Call for Sites exercise to gather evidence ahead of our consultation on Kingston's draft new Local Plan (called a 'Regulation 19' consultation) this summer.

If you have already submitted a site through the Greater London Authority’s ‘Call for Sites’ in late 2024, you don’t need to re-submit your suggestions. We will ensure all sites submitted to the GLA are part of our assessment.

We encourage anyone who may need help in completing the form to contact the Spatial Planning Team by emailing localplan@kingston.gov.uk or by calling 020 8547 5000.
