The Restoration of Plough Pond
Overview
We would love to hear your thoughts on the restoration of Plough Pond, the oldest pond in the borough, which is much loved by the local community. Ponds provide fantastic habitats for an array of species. We are looking to enhance the variety and quality of habitats on the site, including the re-profiling of the pond banks and planting wildlife friendly pond plants.
We want to restore the fence around the pond. We also propose installing a small viewing platform to give people a better view of the pond, which is currently blocked when groups gather along the path. This platform will provide safe access without creating a hazard or obstruction. Additionally, we plan to install two interpretation boards to educate visitors about the natural and social history of the Plough Pond.
More Information
This project aims to enable Plough Pond to reach its full potential, making it a pond that local people can be proud of. The pond should be a place for locals to learn about its environmental significance and social history. The pond is located on Church Road, please see the What3Words below:

Why your views matter
We’d love to hear your thoughts on our proposal to restore Plough Pond, particularly from those who know and cherish it, to help shape the restoration and improve the environment for local residents. Your feedback will guide the project. We are especially interested in your views on the fence design and whether you support a small viewing platform for safer and better access to the pond.
