Leisure Centre for Kingston Town Centre

Closed 4 Aug 2024

Opened 8 Jul 2024

Overview

Kingston Council is committed to building a new swimming and leisure centre in Kingston town centre.

The leisure centre will deliver the range of activities that residents and stakeholders said they wanted to see, in an efficient, accessible and sustainable two-storey building that will be designed to ensure the project can be delivered within an affordable budget.

The plans for the new centre include an 8 lane swimming pool and a teaching pool with spectator seating, as well as a four court sports hall, studio spaces, gym, squash courts, a soft play area and a cafe. Reflecting a new business model it also includes features such as a wellbeing suite and spa facility alongside a larger soft play area than in the previous project.

A revised design for the building, reflecting comments received from communities across the borough, as well as advice from the Design Review Panel and the local planning authority, has been created, and we are now hosting the last set of engagement events before we look to submit a planning application for the scheme in Autumn 2024.
